What's Next?

Once your Application Form has been processed, we will send you an acknowledgement (via text where possible), which will inform you of the general arrangements for interview.

Interviews

All students who meet our entry criteria and apply before the Application Form submission date will be offered an interview. The interview is designed to help you choose the best course and subjects to suit your interests and abilities. It is also an opportunity for you to discuss your university and career aims and to ensure that your choices are appropriate for these ambitions. You will also be able to discuss College life, student finance, enrichment opportunities and ask any further questions you may have.

Interviews begin in October of each year and continue into the Spring of the following year. The College will still process Application Forms after the submission date, but may not offer an interview as part of the process.

College tours are available on request and there will be opportunities to speak to current students on your visit.

FAQs

Can I re-do my A-Levels/transfer to your college mid-year?

We will look at this on a case by case scenario. Send us an e-mail at admissions@sgmc.ac.uk which outlines the subjects you currently study, the units of your subjects & the exam board. We also need to know whether you are studying an AS, A2 or a linear course. Please also outline the reason for your transfer in the e-mail and the area/sixth form/college you are transferring from.

Can I study A-Levels alongside BTECs?

You can study mixed vocational and A Levels, please look at our prospectus for which BTEC certificates we offer. 90/180 credit vocational is a full course and cannot be mixed with A-Levels.

I am an overseas student, I did my education abroad. Can I still apply to your college?

Overseas students need to have their results translated by UK Naric (www.naric.org.uk/naric), if you have not had this done, we will give you a English and Maths test to determine your current level and then choose an appropriate course of study.

I’m over 19, can I apply to your college?

We are a 16-18 sixth form college, we accept applications from 16-18 year olds. If you are 18 on or before the 31st of August of the year you wish to apply, and meet our entry requirements of the course you wish to do you can make an application with us.

We accept 19-24 year olds who have been statemented for an EHCP (Educational Health & Care Plan) – please contact our Welfare department to discuss your needs.
