Welcome! The Corporation is the official name for the Governing Body of the College. Corporation members (we often call them governors) come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and their focus is on strategic policy and the overall direction of the College, as well as ensuring that adequate management, accountability, and control systems are in place and operate effectively.
We're all very proud to be associated with the College and excited by the achievements of our students and staff, including our recent 'Good' rating following an Ofsted inspection in late 2021.
Our goal is to support the College on its journey to become an outstanding sixth form provider within our local community and if you are interested in being a part of this, please do look out for governor vacancies.

Becoming a Governor or Co-opted Member of the Corporation
Are you interested in becoming a Governor or Co-opted Member of the Corporation?
The Corporation
The governing body is responsible for the overall functioning of the College. Our Board has nineteen voluntary Governors, including the Principal, a Parent Governor, Staff and Student Governors. Independent Governors are initially appointed for a 4-year period of office and can serve up to 8 years.
We are also seeking Co-opted Governors with experience and skills in audit, property management, further and higher education experience to support our sub-committee membership.
The College is an equal opportunities organisation and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. Governor appointments are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The college draws students from a wide geographical area of north and east London and from a very wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. At present over 95% of our students are from minority ethnic communities. The Corporation welcomes applications for all sections of the community.
The role of a Governor requires energy, motivation and a commitment to attend around ten meetings each year during term time. Our Governors use their experience collectively to contribute to the academic direction, strategic planning and mission of the College, supporting the decisions of the Corporation and its committees once they have been reached on the basis of collective responsibility. Independent Governors come from a variety of backgrounds including business, education and the community. Co-opted governors are assigned to specific committees, relevant to their experience and expertise and attend approximately 3 meetings per year.
Personal qualities required to be a Governor.
Prospective governors should have the following characteristics:
- A real interest in Further Education.
- Skills and experience that will benefit the College.
- A commitment to act as an advocate for the College and to act in the best interests of the College at all times.
- A commitment to working with integrity, openness and honesty.
